How the Space Is Used
We ask where the piece will be used, how it is cleaned and what equipment will be nearby. This helps us discuss the stone, finish and ongoing care.
About Us
Meet Alphabastro’s small team, learn how we work and understand what each type of work can do.
Alphabastro
Alphabastro works with natural stone countertops, worktops, localized repairs and finishing. We help you understand whether a piece needs to be made, adjusted, restored or simply cared for differently. Since 2018, we’ve been based in Botafogo, visiting homes and small businesses across Rio de Janeiro. We hear from people adapting a kitchen, finishing a bathroom or trying to understand a mark that has appeared on installed stone. Every inquiry starts with questions about how the space is used and the condition of the piece.
Recorded Measurements
We start with a conversation, recorded measurements and an examination of the material. For a new countertop, we check supports, cutouts and the access route before sending it for fabrication. For a repair, we assess the depth of the damage and the surrounding finish. We show samples when they help with a choice, while explaining that each natural stone slab may vary. We put the agreed work and maintenance guidance in writing so you know what will be done and what to watch for afterward.
Clear Limitations
Not every stain disappears with polishing, and a repair may remain visible in certain light. If the base is unstable, there is active water seepage or the problem comes from the property’s plumbing, the responsible professional will need to address the cause before work on the stone begins. Alphabastro does not do structural work or plumbing. Timelines and solutions also depend on available stone, site access and the conditions found during the visit. We explain these limitations before proposing the next step.

We discuss how the space is used, measurements and the limits of the work before starting.

When work requires installation, we check dimensions and support points on site. This lets us identify cutouts, transport obstacles and necessary adjustments before fabrication.
We explain what the work may change and what may remain visible. If the cause is outside our scope, we advise you to consult the appropriate professional.
